The New York Times seems to like to publish articles about sad professional men who lose their jobs and sit around petting their cats and stroking their beards all day. At least that’s what the photos with the articles seem to imply.
There’s a lot of talk about the psychological effects of layoffs, the shame guys feel and all that, but I don’t feel any shame. I just feel pissed off and broke and determined. I don’t have a beard anymore, and I’m not about to start petting our scrawny cat, but man, I’d love to wring the neck of some scrawny Wall Street Banker. Or even a fat one.
